Google AI Photoshoot: What Pomelli's Photoshoot Feature Actually Does

"Google AI photoshoot" almost always means Photoshoot, a feature inside Pomelli, Google Labs' free AI marketing tool. Upload one product photo and it generates shots in your brand's style. Google launched it February 19, 2026, and Pomelli is now available in about 200 countries. This page covers what it does, what it doesn't, and where a dedicated tool fits, with every claim sourced and dated.

Pomelli is a product of Google. CherryShot is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Google or Pomelli. Pomelli claims below come from Google's blog and help pages, linked and dated. CherryShot claims come from our live site.

What is Google's AI photoshoot tool?

Pomelli itself is older than its Photoshoot feature. Google Labs and DeepMind launched Pomelli on October 28, 2025 as a free marketing assistant: give it your website and it builds a brand profile (launched as "Business DNA", now called Business Profile), then generates social posts and ad creative that match (Google Labs blog, Oct 28, 2025). Photoshoot came later, built on Google's Nano Banana image model (Google Labs blog, Feb 19, 2026). It is not a separate app: when people search for it, they mean this one feature inside Pomelli.

Is it actually free? Yes. Google's help page states you can "currently use Pomelli at no charge," with "several hundred image and video generations" (Google Labs Help, checked Oct 2026). The word to notice is "currently": Pomelli is an experiment inside Google Labs, a program that has folded or changed free tools before. Free during a beta is not the same promise as a permanent free tier.

How Photoshoot works, step by step

Steps from Google's current help documentation (support.google.com, checked October 2026).

    1. Build your Business Profile first

Google's help page is plain about the order: "Before you can create a Photoshoot, you must have built your Business Profile." Google called this step Business DNA at launch. Pomelli reads your website or setup answers before the Photoshoot tab does anything.

    2. Upload one product photo

Google asks for an image that "shows the entire product clearly," one product in frame, decent lighting. A phone shot qualifies; no studio photo needed.

    3. Pick a template, generate

Select "Choose Templates" and pick up to six preset or custom templates per run; custom ones come from "Add your own style." Pomelli applies your Business Profile automatically, so results match your brand look.

    4. Edit, animate, resize, download

Edit with a text prompt, animate to MP4 or GIF, resize the aspect ratio, or download. Images can also feed straight into Pomelli's campaign builder.

On templates: Google's page describes up to six preset or custom templates per run without naming them. PetaPixel's February coverage named four at launch (Studio, Floating, Ingredient, In Use), a different structure than today's documentation, so treat the catalog inside the tool as the only current list (PetaPixel, Feb 20, 2026).

Where it runs, and its real limits

Photoshoot launched February 19, 2026 in four countries: the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Google expanded English access across the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and the UK on April 21, 2026 (Google Labs blog). Checked this month, Google's live availability page lists about 200 countries and territories (support.google.com). Most articles online still repeat the four-country launch list; the tool has moved on. The same page adds that feature availability may differ by country, so Photoshoot may not open everywhere on that list.

    The documented limits

    • English only, ages 18 and up.
    • A Google account and a completed Business Profile before Photoshoot unlocks.
    • Free usage capped at "several hundred" generations, Google's wording, not a published number.
    • A browser tool at labs.google; Google's pages mention no dedicated iOS or Android app.
    • Export formats beyond MP4 and GIF for animations, and maximum image resolution, are not stated on Google's public pages, so we make no claim about them.

    Pomelli Photoshoot vs CherryShot, factually

Pomelli facts are sourced above. CherryShot facts come from our live site, October 2026. Where we could not confirm a Pomelli capability, the row says so instead of guessing.

When Pomelli alone is enough, and when it isn't

If you sell a handful of SKUs, need social-ready images fast, and don't need on-model shots or video ads, Pomelli alone is enough, and it's free. If your photo needs stop at "clean background, matches my brand," there is no reason to pay for anything else.

The gap opens when you need shots on a person at scale, video ads, a published per-image cost instead of a "several hundred" ceiling, or a workflow without the Business Profile setup step. Apparel and beauty brands showing products on people, and agencies running output across many client catalogs, are the cases where the table above tips toward a dedicated tool. Our free photoshoot page covers what you can test without paying, and the product photography overview shows the full workflow.

    Questions people ask

Is Google's AI photoshoot tool free?

Yes. Google's own help page states you can "currently use Pomelli at no charge," with "several hundred image and video generations" available. It is a Labs beta, so free is Google's current stated status, not a permanent guarantee.

    What is Pomelli?

Google Labs' free AI marketing tool, launched October 28, 2025. It builds a brand profile from your website, launched as "Business DNA" and now called Business Profile, and since February 19, 2026, generates product photos through its Photoshoot feature.

Does Pomelli Photoshoot work outside the US?

Yes. It launched in four countries; Google's live availability page now lists about 200 countries and territories, English only, ages 18 and up. Google adds that feature availability may differ by country, so check its page if you are outside the original four.

Can Pomelli put my product on a model?

Google's current documentation does not say so in its own words. Press coverage at launch described a template with the product in use, which may include people. Test it directly in the tool rather than relying on secondary sources, including this one.

    What templates does Photoshoot offer?

Google's current help page describes up to six preset or custom templates per generation without naming them. February press coverage named four at launch: Studio, Floating, Ingredient and In Use. Google no longer publishes a fixed list, so the catalog inside the tool is the only current answer.

Is CherryShot affiliated with Google or Pomelli?

No. Pomelli is a product of Google. CherryShot is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Google or Pomelli. This page was prepared by CherryShot from Google's own published pages on the dates shown.

Checked October 2026 and re-verified monthly, since Google Labs changes Pomelli often. If you read this later and something looks off, it probably is; every source above is linked so you can check yourself.
